Kanye West's 'Power' Video Premieres Thursday On MTV

The 90-second clip will air at 11 p.m., after 'Jersey Shore.'

It's not a video, it's a work of art. But MTV will be the gallery when Kanye West's much-anticipated clip for "Power" debuts Thursday night at 11 p.m. ET/PT right after "Jersey Shore."

The Louis Vuitton Don and director Marco Brambilla have been adamant in avoiding the "music video" label since their collaboration was announced. "The 'Portrait of Power' premieres this Thursday on MTV right after Jersey Shore...it's not a video... it's a painting!" West tweeted Wednesday morning (August 4).

Unlike the standard music video, West's "Power" runs only 90 seconds. Speaking to The New York Times last week, Brambilla described the look of the video as "kind of apocalyptic."

"It had this very dark, personal conflict within it," Brambilla said. "Because of his own concept of celebrity and his own notoriety, he's keenly self-aware of all these things. And it all came out in the music."

Since "Power" leaked to the Net in May, the record has been lauded by fans as well as journalists. The song's release was just part of West's return from his brief musical hiatus. He produced two tracks ("Find Your Love" and "Show Me a Good Time") for Drake's Thank Me Later, and he appears on and produced "Live Fast, Die Young" on Rick Ross' Teflon Don. Kanye has also produced and appears on albums by his G.O.O.D. Music roster of talent, Consequence, Big Sean and Kid Cudi, all due out on September 14.

Thursday is a big night for video premieres, with Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" clip also debuting on MTV that night, at 9 p.m. before "Jersey Shore."
