Lorenzen Wright Memorial to Be Held at the FedExForum Wednesday

Thousands of mourning friends, family and fans are expected Wednesday at a funeral service for former NBA player Lorenzen Wright. The service will be held at 1 p.m. CDT at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn. For those who can't attend, a live stream of the ceremonies can be seen at WREG.com.

Wright, 34, was found shot to death on July 28, six days after he was reported missing by his family and 10 days after he was last seen. A 911 call was made from his cell phone the day he went missing, but a police dispatcher was unable to trace the location of the call, and investigators did not learn the call came from his phone until July 27.

Wright is survived by six children, his mother Deborah Marion, and his father Herb Wright. His ex-wife, Sherra Wright, is not officially a suspect, but her home was recently searched by police, and a former personal assistant of Lorenzen Wright came forward Monday with audio recordings alleged to be of Sherra making threatening remarks to Lorenzen. The TV station FOX13 in Memphis cites an unidentified source saying Sherra has not cooperated with police and has declined to give a statement, a claim her defense attorney has disputed.

Born and raised in Memphis, Lorenzen Wright's memorial will be held just miles away from his former high school, Booker T. Washington High School, and college, the University of Memphis -- and in the same building where he once played as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. Wright played for the Grizzlies from 2001-06, the first five years of the franchise's existence in Memphis after moving from Vancouver, while helping the team to its only three playoff appearances in team history.

The family has created a memorial fund in Wright's honor; tax-deductible donations can be made
