Tampa Wins! (The Twins game and The Bachelorette)

CL sports blogger Kevin Tall will fill in the details later tonight of the very encouraging debut of Jeremy Hellickson pitching the Rays to a 4-2 win against the Minnesota Twins. But I’m here to tell you that Tampa had another win tonight, hanging on to its position as the #1 source of Bachelor/Bachelorette champeens (hang in there, Mary Delgado!) with the altogether not-surprising victory, if that’s the word, of Tampa’s Roberto Martinez.
The handsomest damn man in B/B history, with the slam-bangingest chemistry with another B/B in history, was the clear choice from the first episode of Ali Unpronounceable Last Name. Ali was so sure of Roberto that she (gasp) Broke The Rules — and declined the opportunity to string the other guy on (Chris! From my home town!) when she knew without having to go through another excruciating rose ceremony that she would ditch him for Roberto.
It was actually a win-win-win night for Tampa: While the Rays were beating the Twins at the Trop, the team got name-checked on big-time cheezy reality TV (and the scenes of Roberto’s alma mater, UT, got replayed in the flashbacks). Ali’s brother asked Roberto who his favorite baseball team was — a loaded question from a family of Red Sox fans — and  after the dimwitted urging of his soon-to-be fiancee (”the Tampa Blue Rays?”), admitted his allegiance to the Rays. OK, seconds later he caved in and told the dad his favorite team was really the Red Sox, but give him a break, he was trying to schmooze the prospective in-laws.
Roberto lives in Charleston, SC, now, and the happy couple said tonight they’ll be moving to San Diego. But might the happy couple head down to Tampa for a family visit and wind up sharing some tender moments of domestic abuse à la Delgado and the bass fisherman? We can only hope.
